~~~Lake Orion residents Adam Frezza and Sara Lieblein kicked off 2006 by winning the New Year’s Resolution Run, held downtown on Jan. 1.
~~~The LOHS wrestling team made it 2-0 on alumni night, beating Waterford Kettering 28-27 in dramatic fashion.
~~~The LOHS basketball team completed a 4-1 road trip to move to 8-2 and the driver’s seat in league play.
~~~The LOHS cheerleading squad hosted 22 varsity cheer teams in one of the state’s largest invites.
February
~~~The LOHS boys swim team finished third in the county meet and fifth at the OAA I meet, both held in the natatorium.
~~~The wrestling squad won its district, but fell to Davison in regional action. Seven wrestlers advanced to the state tourney and Coach Doug Kline was voted Regional Coach of the Year.
~~~The LOHS volleyball team tied a school record by winning its 27th match of the season.
March
~~~Both LOHS ski teams finished in the state’s top-five, with senior James Hubbard capturing the state slalom title.
~~~The cagers finished their regular season at 17-3 and with the outright OAA III title. The team eventually lost to Clarkston in a district final.
~~~The LOHS hockey squad fell 3-2 to Utica Eisenhower in a regional final to finish their season with an 18-7-1 mark.
~~~The swim team finished sixth at the Division I state meet, led by diver Brandon Figurski’s diving title.
~~~Three Dragon wrestlers place at the state meet, led by freshman Evan Gros? fifth place finish.
~~~The cheerleaders finished ninth at the state championships in Grand Rapids.
~~~The LOHS Unified Basketball team won the state championship in Kalamazoo.
~~~LOHS grad Megan Noll captained Hope College to the Division III National Title.
~~~The Lake Orion Liquid Lightning swim team had one-third of its team qualify for states and set 130 new records.
~~~LOHS golfer Andy Bogus made a rare hole-in-one on a par-four at Oxford Hills.
~~~Lake Orion resident Scott Hazelton is crowned the USA Powerlifting bench press national champion in Denver.
April
~~~The LOHS softball team captured the Eisenhower Invitational, getting four players selected to the all-tournament team in the process.
~~~The LOHS girls soccer squad got off to a record start, going undefeated in their first eight games. Rachel Bemman led the way scoring 12 goals in the eight games.
~~~Lake Orion native Clint Verran finished 10th at the Boston Marathon on April 17, while six other members of the Hansons-Brooks team placed in the top 22.
~~~The LOHS boys tennis team won their second tournament of the season in Fenton on April 29.
May
~~~The LOHS boys track team won the OAA I title outright by winning the league meet at home on May 23. The girls team finished in third place.
~~~The softball team repeated as champs of the Troy Athens Invitational and took the OAA I title.
June
~~~Alex Hartley took the state title in the discus and placed third in the shot put, while Rob Shinouskis was third in the 3200 run at the state meet.
~~~Darby Peters and Britney Hamilton both finished in the top-10 at the state golf finals. Peters tied for second.
~~~The soccer team was ousted from the state playoffs, falling in penalty kicks to Rochester Adams.
~~~The LOHS baseball squad captures district and regional titles before falling to U-D Jesuit in the state quarterfinals on a walk-off home run.
~~~The Lake Orion Baptist Lions fell in the MACS state final for the second straight year.
