Soccer players honored

The Dragons girls soccer team honored their three All-State performers from 2006 at halftime of a recent Lake Orion basketball game.

The Oxford varsity soccer team had a fitting end to their victorious season when they received their much-deserved honors.
The Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association ranked the 2005 District Champions and Regional Finalists #8 out of 122 schools in Division II in the entire state of Michigan.
Junior Zac Wasylyna and Senior Alex Austin were both voted onto the 1st Team All-League for the FML, 1st Team All-District, and for the All-Region Team.
Both were voted MVP’s for the Wildcat squad this year, and on top of that, Wasylyna made the 2nd Team All State in Division II and Austin made 3rd Team All-State.
Senior Josh DuVal was voted one of the Most Improved Players on the team and was given Honorable Mention for the All-State team.
The Wildcats set two school records with 19 wins for the season, and notched a record 17 shutouts. Senior Keeper Shane Rondy set a new school record with 16 shutouts and for his .75 Goals Against Average.
To round out the awards, head coach John Thaler was voted District Coach of the Year for the third time in just his fourth year leading the Wildcats.
