Not so super ex-girlfriend
On May 14, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to the 3600 block of Hawthorne for a report of assault and battery. The complainant said she had a physical altercation with a former live-in significant other. The complainant and a male friend were walking on Cherry Street when she saw the former girlfriend. She said she walked away and sat on the curb when the ex-girlfriend called her friend over. The complainant then said the other woman stormed toward her, dragged her by her ponytail into the road, pushed her to the pavement, yelling profanities and slamming the left side of her head into the road. The complainant broke away and ran down the road to an unknown man who helped her. The deputy observed the complainant had a skinned elbow with a deep red spot the size of a quarter, as well as two small red marks on the left side of her neck. The male friend was contacted and said he witnessed the attack on the complainant. The suspect did not initially return calls from the Brandon detective and when finally contacted, said she was attacked first and was only defending herself. The case is open.

Knowledgeable drunk

The deputy requested the man’s license, registration and insurance, which the driver, who smelled strongly of intoxicants, provided. The driver said he’d had four beers, but knew he was drunk.
