A 47-year-old Pontiac woman was arrested Saturday evening on a variety of charges, including endangering a six-year-old child.
According to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Department report, the woman claimed to be the grandmother of the child, apparently to mislead police about her status as a suspended driver.
She was apprehended by deputies at Orion and Miller Roads after a caller reported her erratic driving. The woman was also slurring her speech.
Deputies suspected that she was under the influence of alcohol, but after she did not register a blood alcohol content, realized her behavior was likely due to medications she was taking.
When the mother of the child arrived on the scene, she informed deputies that the woman arrested was actually her aunt, and not the child’s grandmother.
The woman was arrested for giving false information to police and driving on a suspended license, in addition to the endangerment charge.
