Brandon Twp.- The township board has approved the installation of a dry hydrant, not to exceed a total price of $6,000, to be installed at the entrance to the new park at Oakwood and Hadley roads, following unanimous approval by the township board at their July 2 meeting.
Fire Chief Bob McArthur says the move is another step in lowering ISO ratings throughout the township.
The ISO, International Organization for Standardization, provides set standards for fire protection and can affect insurance rates for residents. The ISO scale for fire protection ranges from 10 to one, with the lower the number, the greater the fire protection. The Brandon Fire Department currently has a rating of 9/5. The 9 rating is for water supply, while the 5 rating is for personnel and equipment.
