Liberty Golf & Banquet Center in Independence Township hosts the Lisa Hetherington Golf Classic Saturday, Aug. 25.
Hetherington, an art teacher for Brandon schools, is in remission after two bouts with brain cancer. She had a brain tumor removed in 2000, but it returned in 2004, again requiring surgery. She received radiation and chemotherapy treatments at Henry Ford Hospital, and returned to teaching last year.
The fundraiser benefits cancer research and individuals with cancer.
“Things have been going pretty decent so now we’re raising money to help out other families,” said Chad Hetherington, Lisa’s husband.
“This is the fourth year, we’ve raised over $20,000 in the past couple years and donated quite a bit ? we’re looking for donations for local door prizes and also lots of golfers.”
Registration begins 12:30 p.m., and shotgun start is 1:30 p.m. Contributions of $100 provides 18 holes of golf with cart, grab bag, and buffet dinner. The event will also include Longest Drive Contests, Closest to the Pin, Silent Auction, and Vegas Hole.
To make a donation, make check payable to Faith Baptist Church, c/o Lisa Hetherington, mailed to Chad Hetherington, 9417 Tiger Run Trail., Davison, 48423. For more information, check www.lisakh.com.
