Farm, church join forces to help family

When it seems like nothing will get better a community often comes together to show overwhelming support.
Just ask the Daigle family of Addison Township.
While in the hospital this past March, Scott Daigle, 43, was told he had only nine weeks to live. Unfortunately, he died very shortly after that prognosis.
When he passed away, he left his wife Michelle and three young daughters, Kayla O’Reily, 12, Rebbecca, 8, and Nicole Daigle, 6.
Scott and Michelle had only been married a few weeks before his passing, but they had been together nine years.
After seeing the Daigle family lose a husband and father, Shenanigans Farm in Oxford and Grace Way Christian Fellowship Church in Addison decided it was their calling to help out.
On Saturday, August 25, Shenanigans will host a free benefit for the Daigle family, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The benefit will have children’s events such face painting, pony rides, hay rides, a petting zoo and more. Also, there will be a used tack sale, horse demonstrations, vendors, crafts and live entertainment.
Those attending the benefit can bid on items, such as guitars, sporting equipment and jewelry, at a live auction as well. Donations for the auction come with a tax-free receipt and would be greatly appreciated.
Although the event is free, donations are welcome. Grace Way will match one dollar for every person who attends.
‘It was perfect timing,? said Nate Perkins, pastor of Grace Way. I just saw this family go through a terrible trauma and knew that the joint work of the farm and church would really help the family out a lot.?
Michelle Daigle said she was ‘surprised? the church and farm wished to host a benefit for her family.
‘When I found out that we were getting so much support throughout the community it was so overwhelming,? she said. ‘The support we are getting from Shenanigans Farm is unbelievable. It really just lifts my spirits.?
Daigle would like to thank everyone who has helped out with the benefit, especially Shenanigans Farm and Pastor Perkins.
‘This really does mean the world to me and the girls,? she said.
Vendors are still needed for the benefit.
