The Lake Orion Village Council might soon have a new look, as four seats are up for grabs next Tuesday (Sept. 11).
President Pro Tem Ken Van Portfliet, along with newcomers David Churchill, Robert Reetz and Ron Zilka, all have a place on the ballot.
Current Councilman Douglas Dendel is not on the ballot, due to an incorrect date on his paperwork, but he is seeking reelection as a write-in candidate.
‘I’ve always tried to serve the people of the village as best as I can,? said the longtime councilman, noting that there is a need for the council to control spending, as the village does not have the potential for growth like the township does.
As The Review previously reported, the three candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected to a four-year term, while the candidate receiving the fourth highest number of votes will be elected for a two-year term.
In addition to Van Portfliet and Dendel, the terms of Council President William Siver and Councilman Robert Hollenbeck are also expiring.
The polls, at Blanche Sims Elementary, will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. on the 11th. Blanche Sims is located at 465 E. Jackson Street.
