Voters dump Del Vigna

Oxford Village voters went to the polls Tuesday and put council President George Del Vigna out of a job.
Garnering just 117 votes, Del Vigna came in dead last among the five candidates competing for four available council seats.
Teri Stiles, who was appointed to council in March 2006, was the top vote-getter with 226 ballots cast for her. As a result, she earned a four-year seat.
Newcomer Tony Albensi came in second with 212 votes, enough to win him a four-year seat as well.
Receiving two-year seats were Councilman Chris Bishop, appointed in May 2006, and newcomer Mike Hamilton, who garnered 204 and 208 votes, respectively.
Out of the 2,372 registered voters in the village, a total of 288 (or 12.14 percent) participated in the election. Clerk Rose Bejma said 136 absentee ballots were cast.
The new council will be sworn in at the Sept. 25 village meeting.
