No cents
On Sept.15, Genesee County Sheriff’s Department received a call from the owner of a Goodrich coin car wash that coin machines containing about $1,500 in change were stolen from the business. Deputies lifted fingerprints from the crime scene and are currently waiting for a match. Also on Sept. 15, Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies from the Brandon Substation were dispatched to the Village Auto Wash, 360 South St., for a breaking and entering. Someone had smashed a large hole through the brick wall of the office, and taken the keys to coin-operated machines, stealing $2,000 in coins and paper money.
It’s in the mail
On Sept. 26, Genesee County Sheriff’s Department received a report from a 40-year-old female in the 11000 block of Green Road that mail had been stolen. An ex-boyfriend is suspected.
Home alone, no phone
On Sept. 27, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to the 900 block of Sands Road for suspicious circumstances. The complainant said her daughter stayed home from school because of illness and was alone when she heard a door open and footsteps. She entered the kitchen and saw an unknown white male in his 30s go out the back door, get on a bicycle and ride away. The man was wearing a ballcap and jean jacket with bird insignia on it. She had no phone to call anyone with.
‘X? marks the spot
On Sept. 27, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to the 1900 block of S. Ortonville Road for malicious destruction of property. The complainant said someone scratched an ‘X? into the paint of his 2005 Hummer vehicle, that was parked in his driveway.
Unlucky deer
On Sept. 29, Brandon deputies were dispatched to a business in the 3900 block of M-15, where a deer leaped through a 3×5 foot window. The injured deer bled throughout an office and rear storage area, where deputies could not enter without putting themselves at risk. The deer was euthanized.
Brandon deputies also euthanized deer that were struck by vehicles on Sept. 28, in the 5000 block of Oakwood; Sept. 29 in the 1900 block of Seymour Lake Road; Sept. 30 in the area of Ortonville and Seymour Lake roads; and Sept. 30 in the 5000 block of Hummer Lake Road.
Wine, fight and driving don’t mix
On Sept. 29, a Brandon deputy was on patrol northbound on Ortonville Road when he observed a vehicle riding close to the fog line and crossing it several times. When the vehicle approached the construction area, it almost hit construction signs on two different occasions. He made a traffic stop near Granger Road. The driver was on her cell phone and he asked her for her driver’s license, registration and insurance. She said her husband was on his way with it. She had a slight odor of intoxicants about her and when asked if she’d been drinking, she said she’d had two glasses of wine. She was driving around after a fight with her husband. A preliminary breathalyzer test showed she had .144 percent blood alcohol content. She was arrested for operating while intoxicated and taken to the Oakland County Jail.
Unchained
On Sept. 29, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to M-15 near Wolfe Road for larceny of construction equipment. A cement mixer was chained to a pole and someone cut the chain and took it.
Daddy’s little girl
On Sept. 30, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to the 2700 block of Mulberry for threats left on a cell phone voicemail. The complainant is getting a divorce and his ex-wife has been getting property from his home. There was some trouble making arrangements, and the man said his ex-father-in-law left a message saying that if certain arrangements weren’t made, he would ‘get him when he least expected it.?
Sound of Silence
On Oct. 1, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to the 600 block of Sands Road for larceny from an auto. The complainant said an unknown person forced entry into the trunk of his vehicle using a pry tool and stole stereo equipment. The suspect also stole a stereo CD player head unit from the unlocked vehicle. The complainant’s father heard noise around 1 a.m., but didn’t investigate.
Sound of Silence II
On Oct. 1, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to the 300 block of Oakwood Road for larceny from an auto. The complainant said someone used an unknown object and broke out the right passenger window and removed the radio, amplifier, speakers and kicker box from the vehicle.
Sound of Silence III
On Oct. 1, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to the 900 block of E. Glass Road for larceny from an auto. The rear passenger window was broken and an amplifier and speakers were stolen.
Embezzled
On Oct. 1, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to a business in the 1100 block of Ortonville Road for an embezzlement complaint. The business owner said an employee admitted stealing food, pop, candy, and energy drinks and estimated in writing to the owner that he had stolen at least $206 from the store between Aug. 9 and Sept. 12. He was hired in July and fired Sept. 28. The case is open.
