Preliminary competition for Rio Wraps’s Burrito Bowl eating contest is coming up. Clarkston-area eaters can compete at the 6325 Sashabaw Road location’s “Prelim-a-mini” at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16.
Entry is a $20 donation to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. All proceeds go to the society.
Five contestants will be chosen at random to compete. The first to eat three mini burritos will advance to the championship event, set for 3-10 p.m., Feb. 1, at Rio Wraps, 1500 N. Crooks Road in Clawson.
Last year’s preliminary record was 3 minutes, 18 seconds. The main event winner ate four pounds of burritos.
