Clarkston Junior High School’s Composers Club is sharing their music with the public.
The performed songs from their CD, ‘EPIC,? March 11. The CD contains 28 songs featuring about 20 students. It includes instrumentals, vocals and poetry in the form of songs.
The experience has been ‘life-changing and inspirational,? said composer Lynsey Sirbaugh, who worked on the project with Stephanie Burnham and Taylor Brown.
The Mixed Choir performed ‘Promise Land,? an African American blues song.
‘We are a melting pot and we always will be. This is a melting pot kind of song,? said Danielle Blanchard, club sponsor who teaches Vocal Music and Piano/Music Technology courses at the school.
Over the past few weeks, the composers worked together to blend their individual sounds, she said.
Money raised from the concert and CD sales will go to Braille Beats, a summer program for vision-impaired students. Sirbaugh hopes to participate in the summer camp.
The CD will also be available on iTunes.
