Goodrich – Caution: beware of flying pancakes. The food is good, but the show is great.
Chris Cakes, the crazy flippers who have been featured on the Food Channel for their amazing flying flapjacks, will be at a flapjack dinner fundraiser for the Goodrich High School Equestrian Team from 5-8 p.m., April 18 at the high school cafeteria, 8029 Gale Road.
‘The dinner will be at the same place and on the same night as the FAME production of ‘Red, Hot and Blue,?? said Equestrian Coach Tere Onica. ‘Everyone can come to the dinner at 5 p.m. at the high school cafeteria and then walk over to the Raymond C. Green Theater for the show at 7:30 p.m.?
Onica said this fundraising event is extremely important for the girls on the equestrian team.
‘We need to raise at least $3,000,? she said. ‘The cost to compete is high. The money will be used for registration fees, stall fees, halters, the list goes on and on.?
There will be plenty of flapjacks for everyone since Chris Cake’s custom designed grill and dispensing unit can feed up to 50,000 people. Melanie Muir, owner of Chris Cakes, said the concept is, the more people a fundraiser feeds, the less money they will charge and the more money the Goodrich Equestrian Team can make.
Muir said if a flipper drops a pancake, no need to worry.
‘Dropped pancakes will go in a plastic bag to feed the equestrian team’s horses,? she said. ‘We use all natural ingredients for our pancake mix. There is no bleached flour and we use corn, oats and wheat because it is all natural grains.?
Best of all, Muir said it’s a whole lot of fun.
‘Our flippers will flip pancakes to plates under their legs, and from behind their back,? she said. ‘It is the coolest organized food fight you have ever seen. It’s a one of a kind event that everyone will love to watch.?
