Kohl’s gets by PC, next stop twp. board

Plans to build a 97,423-square-foot Kohl’s department store in Oxford got one step closer to reality last week.
The Oxford Twp. Planning Commission voted 9-0 to recommend the township board approve the final site plan and preliminary PUD agreement for the Oxford North shopping center.
Located just north of the village on the east side of M-24, the 178,214-square-foot shopping center will contain seven retail buildings on a 24.94-acre site.
It’s being developed by the Bloomfield Hills-based JFK Investments Co.
Construction of the shopping center will require improvements to M-24 such as the addition of a traffic signal for northbound lanes and the adjustment of some turnarounds.
As one of their conditions, the planning commission mandated that M-24 improvements must be complete prior to a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy being issued ‘for any and all structures.?
Joseph Kosik, Jr., president of JFK Investments, assured planning commissioners the site development and M-24 improvements ‘would all be simultaneous.?
