Dear Editor:
(In response to: ‘Board slashes $1 million, extent of cuts depends on state,? The Citizen, June 14, page 1)I hope the community of Brandon Township can find room in its budget for retaining a liaison officer for our schools (Currently held by Det. Arnie Terrell). There is so much to be argued for this vital support for our kids. My husband Larry believed fervently (as I believe) that the position of liaison not only provides security for the safety of students, but also draws the students toward the right way to conduct themselves, and away from mischief and mayhem.
In the balance of these most important gains, the funds to provide for the position seem humble indeed. Please, please, support Sergeant Burkett and other public officials in their efforts to retain the position.
