Michael Auchter of Clarkston received the Eta Kappa Nu Outstanding Sophomore Computer Engineering Student Award at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The award was presented at the college’s recent honors and awards ceremony.
Auchter, who recently completed his sophomore year, is the son of Mark and Elaine Auchter of Clarkston. He is a 2006 graduate of Clarkston Senior High School.

Michael Compagnoni graduated magna cum laude, receiving a degree in political science, with a concentration in the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Public Policy and Service. The honor of magna cum laude signifies that Compagnoni graduated with a cumulative grade point average above 3.75 Michael Compagnoni is the son of Charles and Maureen Compagnoni of Newtown, CT and a graduate of Newtown High School.
Kevin Crofton graduated cum laude, receiving a degree in economics and management with a minor in philosophy, with a concentration in the Gerstacker Liberal Arts Program in Professional Management. The honor of cum laude signifies that Crofton graduated with a cumulative grade point average above 3.5 Kevin Crofton is the son of Derek and June Crofton of Spring, TX and a graduate of Clarkston High School.
Michael Frenchi received a degree in biology. Frenchi is the son of Mark and Kathleen Frenchi of Clarkston and a graduate of Univ. of Detroit Jesuit High School.
Caitlin McLean received a degree in economics and management and Spanish, with a concentration in the Gerstacker Liberal Arts Program in Professional Management. McLean is the daughter of Mary Ellen McLean of Clarkston and a graduate of Clarkston High School.
Todd Merz received a degree in Communication studies with a minor in management-Gerstacker Track. Merz is the son of John and Jancie Merz of Clarkston and a graduate of Clarkston High School.
Bryan Yestrepsky graduated summa cum laude, receiving a degree in chemistry and biology. Ashlynd Romkema of Clarkston earned a $1,000 college scholarship in the 2008 Comcast Leaders and Achievers scholarship program.
The graduating senior at Our Lady Of The Lakes High School in Waterford plans to attend Saint Mary’s College.
The program recognizes students who have demonstrated leadership skills, academic achievement and a commitment to community service.

Sarah Julian received a William C. Henning Scholarship in Communication Studies and Jay Olson Memorial Essay in German.
Julian is a junior majoring in German and speech communication. She is the daughter of William and Cynthia Julian of Clarkston and a graduate of Clarkston High School.
Richard Frenchi received recognition as one of seven sophomores with the highest GPA for their class.

Justin Parr earned the Excellence in a Foreign Language Award in Spanish; Greatest Academic Progress, 12th grade, gold; and President’s Award for Educational Achievement at Howe Military School.
The Howe class of 2008 graduate is the grandson of Betty and Jack Parr of Clarkston. He was also named to the Superintendent’s List for the final grading period of the year.
