FISH conducting annual backpack drive

Back-to-school shopping can be so expensive and, when you’re on a tight budget, it can be very difficult to get your children the items they need.
That is why Oxford/Orion FISH has started to collect donations for their annual School Backpack Drive. The drive is scheduled for August 1-18. This is early because the sales start early.
People can donate new backpacks and various school supplies, such as crayons, pencils, highlighters, colored pencils, folders, glue, scissors, three-ring binders, pencil pouches by taking them to the designated drop off locations.
If you would like to help, but don’t have the time to shop yourself, FISH volunteers will also accept monetary donations to purchase supplies. This year they expect to help at least 185 kindergarteners through 12th graders.
Drop-off locations are The Oxford Leader (666 South Lapeer Road), Curves of Oxford (21 North Washington), St. Joseph Church (715 North Lapeer Road, Lake Orion), Lake Orion United Methodist Church (140 West Flint Street) and the Oxford/Orion FISH Pantry (487 First Street, Oxford.). Mail monetary donations to FISH School Supplies, P.O. Box 732, Lake Orion, MI 48361.
