Board takes next step in safety complex process

The Orion Township Board of Trustees approved going forward with negotiations on the architectural contract for the proposed public safety complex.
The 6-1 decision Monday night will allow the involved parties to come to a contract agreement with French Associates, the firm previously picked by the board to handle the project’s architectural aspects.
The issue will come back to the board before the contact is signed.
Members from Plante & Moran’s CRESA group, the project managers, were on hand to discuss the project and a few members from the public also addressed the board.
Based on CRESA’s projections, the project cost could range from just over $8 million to just under $12 million, pending which route the board ultimately chooses.
