The Lake Orion Main Street Economic Development Committee cut the ribbon on two new businesses opening in the community Thursday morning.
Chic Antiques at 20 N. Broadway and Kerry’s Dance Stages at 197 N. Park Ave. are the two newest additions.
‘We try to do what we can to make sure new businesses feel welcome,? said Lois Golden, DDA director. ‘Board members, committee members and DDA staff are here to help and assist businesses as best we can.
Kerry Miotke, owner of Kerry’s Dance Stages, said she is grateful for what the DDA has done in helping her move her business.
‘I love the DDA and what they’ve done for me,? she said. ‘I love my hometown, and I love it even more now that I own a business here.?
Miotke said the stress of owning two dance studios, one in Oxford and one in Auburn Hills, was too much, and decided to combine them into one and open in her hometown of Lake Orion.
Lori Bryan, owner of Chic Antiques, said she has lived in Lake Orion for 10 years and previously ran her business of refurbishing vintage furniture and selling antiques on such Internet institutions as eBay and Craig’s List.
But when a friend who also owns a business downtown mentioned there was space available, Bryan jumped at the opportunity.
‘I’m really happy to be downtown,? she said. ‘I’m glad to see there are elements here to make Lake Orion a shopping destination.?
