Please slow down in the village

Dear Editor:
(In response to: ‘Please, please, slow down!,? The Citizen, Aug. 30, page 6). I totally agree with this and I too, am pleading with people to slow down. I notice speeding throughout most of the village, but living on Church Street, I witness it every day, all day long. Although the village is ultimately going to have a large amount of traffic because of residents, churches, schools, parks, and patrons to the village, it is getting a large amount of traffic due to the fact it is used as cut through from Oakwood to M-15. Because of this fact there seems to be less regard for the speed limits, because they are only using it as a time-saver. Village residents are no different than a large subdivision; we, too, have children, animals, vehicles, and homes. I would hope the sherriff’s department could do more, but as you all seem to know and take advantage of, they are of limited manpower with a large area to cover other than just the village. Just because one does not live in the village does not mean they are not responsible for upholding our laws and limits. Honestly, it seems to be only getting worse and will continue to do so with school starting especially during the a.m. and p.m. hours. There is no reason we have to tolerate the total disregard we are seeing for our speed limits.
