Dear Editor,
On Oct. 27, the Ortonville Village Council President Ken Quisenberry will entertain a motion to extend the terms of what could be the controlling elected council members (three council members and the village president himself) for 14 months.
When the idea was presented to the village council, money was the first reason.
The village could save around $2,500 every two years by moving the election so it would coincide with the general election in November on even years. Then Quisenberry expressed that it would be more convenient for the residents.
Is Mr. Quisenberry saying it’s too difficult or inconvenient for him to come downtown every year and vote? I know it’s not a problem for me.
I don’t really know why the village council would want to change the date of the election. I think they are for personal, political and selfish reasons’not for the good of Ortonville.
There is still time to respond to this change in election dates.
Come to the village meeting on Monday Oct 27, at 7 p.m. in the Brandon Township Hall and tell the Ortonville Village Council to vote ‘no? on the resolution to change the date of the elections.
