The annual Clarkston Rotary Holiday wine gala will have new ‘green? twist this year with the introduction of the LangeTwins Winery and Vineyards. LangeTwins, a farm family of five generations, is well recognized in California as leading sustainable winegrape growers.
Featured at the ‘Taste for the Holidays,? Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Bordine Nursery, guests will be able to taste the newly released vintages of the LangeTwins wines. The 2007 Jahant Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc and the 2007 Delta Rim Chardonnay are third party certified sustainable through the Lodi Rules Campaign.
The tasting will also feature the 2006 Merlot, the 2006 Louise’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon as well as the barrel aged Bordeaux Blend, Midnight Reserve.
LangeTwins was the first California state recipient of the Sand County Foundation Leopold Conservation Award in 2006. LangeTwins farms more tha 7,000 acres in a four county area in northern California and is a leader in voluntary environmentalism, habitat restoration and sustainability.
Charlene Powers Lange, co-owner of the LangeTwins Winery and Vineyards, was born and raised in Chelsea, Mich., and insisted Michigan be ‘one of the first? to enjoy the fruits of the family’s labor.
A selection of premium wines from around the world will also be available to taste, as well as appetizers and desserts donated by thirteen local Clarkston restaurants. The event is open 6:30-8:30 p.m., 8600 Dixie Highway. Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 at the door.
