Clarkston has record turnout

The City of the Village of Clarkston received a 70 percent record voter turnout, Nov. 4, an all-time record, said City Manager Dennis Ritter.
Out of 817 registered voters, 568 went to the polls.
Stephen D. Arkwright beat out write in candidate Les Haight with 367 votes, 87.38 percent. Haight received 53 votes, 12.62 percent. Arkwright said he was ‘pleased? by the number of votes.
‘I think there is a lot to do and I’m looking forward to doing it. I think we have great people to work with,? he said.
That includes a good council and city hall workers, noted Arkwright.
‘Art Pappas (former clerk, treasurer and city manager) and Sharron Catallo (retiring mayor) left things in good order,? he said. ‘I’m eager and ready to roll.?
Unopposed incumbent Council members Kristy Ottman, Mike Gawronski, and Chuck Inhabnit all reclaimed their chairs.
Ottman received 322 votes, 37.49 percent; Gawronski, 273 votes, 31.78 percent; and Inhabnit, 261 votes, 30.38 percent. There was three write in votes, 0.35 percent.
