Local business expert offers bootcamp session, March 3

Author and business mentor Carl Gould offers advice and ideas for owners of small and mid-size businesses at the ‘One Day Bootcamp for CEOs.?
The March 3 event, presented by Henry Business Solutions CEO Patricia Henry Poyle and veteran business coach Stacy Himmelspach of In-Sight Advisory Services, Clarkston, will be from 8:30 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. at Automation Alley, 2675 Bellingham Drive, Troy.
Prior to starting In-Sight Advisory services five years ago, Himmelspach worked with fortune 50 companies to help them improve profitability.
‘What I found out as the changing economics in Michigan were occurring that a lot of companies needed help in the small to medium size arena,? she said. ‘They couldn’t afford the cost of a high end managing consultant.?
This is why she decided to work with the small to mid-size businesses, to help enable to businesses owners to grow profitably, which sometimes requires a turnaround services to help them get their feet back on the ground.
‘They may have the skills to get the business started but they may not have the skills to get them to the next level,? she said. ‘That’s what we’re talking about in the seminar.?
The seminar will consist of three different sessions based around Gould’s book ‘Blueprint for success? and the ‘The 7 stages of small business success.?
Session one will deals with ‘How to ?7stage? your business for maximum performance.? It will give an overview of the seven stage business plan.
‘Today running a business is one of the most challenging and toughest jobs in any company because the buck stops there with the ‘top dog,? said Himmelspach. ‘There is a methodology to help them get there to that next level.?
Between technological advances, and methodologies today’s business is a different environment than it was 25 years ago
‘Twenty-five years ago you sold a product and you always talked about features of something on the product so it was a very transactional relationship. See it today, sell it, and buy tomorrow,? she said. ‘Today it’s more relationship building and being able to help your customer be successful.?
Himmelspach said business owners are ‘barraged? with thousands of decisions to make everyday and it’s important to know which decisions the owner should concern themselves with and in what order they should be placed.
‘If I work backwards I may not get to where I want to be,? she said. ‘So there is an order to managing your business.?
It’s that order that Gould focuses on in ‘The 7 stages.?
‘To try and work on the fourth step doesn’t make sense if you haven’t done the first three, Himmelspach said. ‘These aren’t steps where you can just pick and choose what you want to do. You start at step one.?
Himmelspach’s partner Polyle, will be discussing the ‘one page business plan? in session two. The ‘one page business plan? is one of the plans to help in stage one of the seven stage of success.
It was recently promoted in Money Magazine and on the Oprah show. Session two will also give the power tools for Stages one and two in the: Vision, Strategies and Branding in the seven stage process.
‘Most traditional companies, especially large companies will submit a one-to-two inch business plan,? said Himmelspach. ‘And we’re saying you can do this in a page because times are changing, so quickly, not only the speed of it, but the quantity of change.?
The third session, which will be presented by Himmelspach, will deal with synergy and accountability of the organization.
‘We’re not going through the whole seven stages because most companies are stuck at stage three, that’s the most difficult state. Many companies perish at that stage,? she said. ‘The concepts I am going to be talking about are vital to the survival and the growth to get out of stage three, to move it to the next level of performance to stage four.?
Cost for the complete three-session seminar is $109. Members of Automation Alley and the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) ? Greater Detroit Chapter may attend at a discounted rate of $95.
