On Monday Mar. 2, the varsity ice hockey team lost their playoff game against Port Huron Northern, 4-3.
‘The team did well at the game,? said Head Coach Pat Cherry.
At the end of the first period, the Dragons had a 2-0 lead with both goals scored by senior Adam Chapie.
Northern tied up the game in the second period. Lake Orion then regained the lead when senior Drew McLane scored a goal.
Northern then went on to get two more goals and win the game, ending the Dragons season.
Some of the best players on the team are AAA players or travel players. They play more games, a tougher competition and they play longer, all year round.
These players are seniors Adam Chapie, Dave Johnson and sophomore Joe Janiga.
According to Cherry, Chapie led the team in scoring points, Johnson led in assists and Janiga was the goalie.
Although next season seems will be different from this season, it looks to be promising.
‘We have 12 seniors this season so next year we’ll have a very young team. Also, we’ll have many players coming in as travel players,? said Cherry.
