Team RUSH, Clarkston High School’s robotics team, earned two honors at FIRST Robotics’ Lansing District Competition, March 21.
They won the Chairman’s Award, presented by judges to the team they feel best represents a model for other teams, and best embodies professionalism and respect.
‘It is an awesome honor to win the chairman’s award,” said Bobby Pizzey, team member. “I am excited to be impacting people and changing their lives. It is an honor to be part of a supportive team who really cares about our community, our state, and our nation.?
Team RUSH moves on to FIRST Michigan State Championship Robotics Competition, April 2-4, in Ypsilanti.
A victory there secures a spot in Atlanta for the FIRST International Competition, April 16.
RUSH also won the Woodie Flowers Award for Team Mentor Fred Fox. The award, named after FIRST co-founder Woodie Flowers, celebrates mentors who lead, inspire, and empower. Fox works at Schenck Rotec and has been working with Team RUSH students since 2006.
Team RUSH placed fourth overall. Their alliance advanced to the semi-final round of the tournament.
