A wax museum come to life!
No, it wasn’t an episode of The Twilight Zone.
It was Pine Tree Elementary School’s 11th Annual Wax Museum at their Open House on April 2.
The objective for Dan Martin’s third grade class was to pick a character who made the world a better place or more enjoyable for others.
The class sharpened their writing skills by gathering information through books and the Internet, highlighting interesting or important information about that person and writing rough drafts, sometimes up to five or six of them.
Students then typed their reports and made posters of their characters. They then moved into the first-person where they decided how to introduce themselves to others by telling several important things about them.
Students made all decisions about costumes, props, and backgrounds, which took some of them six hours to create.
At the end of the approximately 15 performances, an estimated 600 people saw the wax figures comes to life and tell their stories this year.
The inspired choices included George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Woody Guthrie, Mother Theresa, Jane Goodall, Rachel Carson, Walt Disney, Harry Houdini, Coco Chanel, W.P. Kellogg, Jacques Cousteau, Helen Keller, Eratosthenes and Alice Roosevelt.
