Police are urging anyone with information on two young men in a white SUV with bumperstickers to speak up.The youth are suspected in two malicious destruction of property instances involving a pellet gun-type weapon and shot out vehicle windows.
‘Anyone who witnesses a suspicious vehicle should call the police department immediately,? said Police Chief Jerry Narsh.
Saturday, April 11, LOPD received a phone call from Front and Anderson Streets from a woman whose back driver’s side window was shot out. As the woman was getting into her vehicle, she heard a loud pop, watched her window shatter and observed two young men driving away, laughing.
An hour earlier, a nearby resident phoned in to report a white SUV with bumperstickers shooting at a stop sign.
‘The responsibles need to be aware that this type of crime is extremely dangerous. We take this very seriously,? Narsh said. ‘This is not a joke and it’s not funny.?
If prosecuted, suspects could face a felony malicious destruction of property charge. Authorities believe that this shooting is related to another situation on Sunday, April 12 because of the similarities and close proximity.
The chief warns that attacks even with a pellet gun could end in death with so many lawfully armed citizens in Michigan.
‘If one feels their life is threatened, they could respond in such away that could be fatal,? said Narsh. ‘Those types of guns could easily be construed as a high-powered rifle.?
