Softball sweeps Waterford/Mott

In LO’s doubleheader against Waterford/Mott, pitcher Danielle Dunn earned her 61st career win – a new school record.
Dunn pitched all seven innings of the first game, threw three strikeouts and didn’t walk any players.
Both teams kept the scoring at zero on Friday until late in the third inning.
With two outs, Jenny Kasper, Paige Hamay, Jessica Bays and Lauren Farrington had four straight hits, bringing the score to 7-0.
Lady Dragons? runs went unanswered until the seventh inning when their opponent scored two.
Tessa Tomlin and Farrington also had non-scoring hits, making the final total nine. The team had only one error.
In the second game, Megan Dyer and Megan Smith took the pitcher’s mound. Dyer threw for three innings and Smith for four. The girls struck out a total of seven players.
Lady Dragons were down 6-2 going into the bottom of the seventh inning.
In a whirlwind turn-around, Jessie Lucas went to first base on a bunt, Smith beat out an infield hit and Tomlin and Kasper singled. Then, Farrington made it to first, driving in the tying run, 6-6.
Shelby Phillips drove a ball to left field, sending Courtney Zielinski (who was running for Farrington) home.

After the Waterford/Mott game, the girl’s record is a flawless 6-0.
