Oxford school board lifts flight restrictions

The Oxford Board of Education voted to lift the ban on air travel for field trips during their last meeting by a 6-1 vote.
Trustee Steve Drakos cast the dissenting vote, but did not state a reason why.
Like many school districts across the United States, Oxford removed flight travel as an option from all field trips after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington D.C.
Approval was given on the new policy with the understanding that as political and foreign standings change in the world, such as whether or not the United States will be going to war with Iraq, the board reserves the right to revisit the issue and make changes.
