There were two sets of Seniors walking through the halls of Lake Orion High School last Thursday.
The school’s student council, also known as the Leadership class, hosted their annual Senior Citizen Musical Brunch.
‘We started planning at the beginning of March,? said student council member Devon Santamour.
‘The decorations turned out really nice and it’s so great for the Seniors to get out and socialize with high school student’s.?
With a record breaking turnout of roughly 350 senior citizens, the brunch/musical was a great success.
After enjoying their meals provided by Heaven Scent Catering, all of the guests were moved into the auditorium. They were the first to see the premiere of this years musical, The Sound of Music.
‘The sound of music is my favorite play of all time,? said Beverly Rembacki.
This was Leadership’s third year hosting this event and many of the guests present had attended all three years so far.
‘After today we’ve seen Hello Dolly, Peter Pan, and The Sound of Music,? said Church Street Singers Director Kathy Wieland. ‘I love being here to witness the interaction between the children and the seniors. They cannot be afraid of us because we are people too and surprisingly we are all very active. I think this really helps break those hidden boundaries between the young and the old.?
After the musical concluded all of the guests made their way into the auditorium lobby where they were able to meet and greet the student cast.
‘I think all of the planning and hard work was worth it,? added Santamour. ‘It turned out to be a great day and I hope that it goes just as smoothly next year.?
