Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is available to residents in Independence Township, Springfield Township and Clarkston this Saturday, May 16, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at Independence Township DPW yard, 6050 Flemings Lake Rd.
Hazardous waste accepted includes a long list of products such as aerosol cans, fertilizer, brake fluid, fluorescent tubes and ballasts, herbicides, swimming pool chemicals and medications. See township websites at www.springfield-twp.us or www.twp.independence.mi.us for a complete list.
Ammunition, explosives, radioactive material, commercial or industrial wastes and latex paint are not accepted.
Independence Township residents pay $5-$35 based on gallons, pounds or number of items. Clarkston residents pay a flat rate of $35, and Springfield Township residents must purchase a $10 voucher at the Springfield Township Civic Center, located at 12000 Davisburg Road.
