At 9:30 a.m., May 25 Memorial Day observances will be marked with a parade and ceremonies in the village of Ortonville for Brandon and Groveland townships. The parade will begin at the Old Town Hall (Church and Mill streets) and will march to the Ortonville Cemetery west of M-15. Wreaths will be laid at the WWI and WWII memorials south of Mill Street en route to the cemetery.
Following the parade, a fly-over by U.S. Air Force A-10 ‘Warthog,? ground support aircraft will be featured.
All veterans are invited to participate in the parade and ceremonies. Transportation will be provided for those veterans who are no longer able to complete the march on foot. Volunteers are needed to carry the service flags during the parade and to participate in the firing party for the musketry salute. All scout troops/packs and other civic organizations are invited to participate in the parade with marching units.
