‘This course is a must for anyone who plans to navigate Oakland County’s waterways,? said Rochelle Loyer, RN, community educator.
Upon successful completion of the Boater’s Safety Course, individuals 12 years of age and older are awarded with their Boating Safety Certification Card from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
Those born after December 31, 1978, are required by law to have in their possession a valid Boating Safety Certificate while operating a personal watercraft on state waterways.
Parents are recommended to attend the course with their children. This class is taught by a representative from the Oakland County Sherriff’s Department, Marine Division.
