GOODRICH- The Goodrich varsity basketball took a heartbreaking loss at home on Feb. 7.
The Martians battled it out with the visiting Wolverines of Atherton, but were defeated by one point in the final minutes of the game.
Goodrich tried to hold on, but were suffering two fold throughout the game- Captain Kyle Gianotti out injured, and foul trouble. The Martians stayed afloat through half-time, leading by just two points, 33-31. After that the game turned feirce and the Martians couldn’t hold on. The score at the buzzer was 64-63, Atherton.
In the tough loss, the Martians were led by the shooting of Kori Garman, who racked up 25 points for the game. Charlie Goetz also pulled hard, and put up 14 points.
Michael McCormick and Kirk Elsworth each chipped in with eight and six points, respectively.
In rebounding, McCormick was hot inside, he pulled down 11 rebounds for the night. Goetz and Garman each nabbed six while Elsworth grabbed five.
Next on the agenda for the Maritans is a home contest against Byron. Game time is slated for 7:15 p.m.
On Feb. 13, the Martians took on rival Lake Fenton at home, however, no scores were available by press time.
