Clarkston football teams? Rush for Food for local familes in need is Friday, Aug. 21.
Freshman, JV and Varsity football players fan out through Clarkston neighborhoods collecting nonperishable food. Donations help stock Lighthouse Emergency Services? pantries in Independence Township. Wearing their football jerseys, volunteers will collect donations starting about 6 p.m.
Team members will cover as many neighborhoods as possible. Donations can also be dropped off at Lighthouse North during business hours.
Last year, the event collected more than 4,000 pounds of food and household items. The Clarkston Chiefs Youth Football program assists by collecting personal and paper products.
