Lake Orion man charged with assaulting neighbor
Officers arrested a 50-year-old Lake Orion resident for assault and battery on W. Flint Street, Aug. 6.
Lake Orion Police Department received a call 5:30 p.m., Thursday, reporting a man broke his neighbor’s dinner plate then slapped the neighbor in the face.
The neighbor had allowed the man to spend the night in his downstairs apartment as the man was locked out of his own apartment by his wife.
The man’s wife had taken his car and house keys after he came home heavily intoxicated, according to reports.
After waking in his neighbor’s apartment, the man began drinking again and became agitated, at which point he broke his neighbor’s plate and slapped him, knocking him to the ground.
Due to jail over-crowding, the man was ticketed, booked and then released, according to reports. He faces a 93-day jail sentence or a $500 fine.

Drunk driver props vehicle up on boulder
Lake Orion police officers on routine patrol discovered a suspicious vehicle at Orion Road and Atwater. Officers saw break lights and reverse lights go on and off repeatedly and heard the vehicle’s engine revving, but with no movement, according to reports.
Upon investigating, police found the vehicle to be stuck on a large rock with the front tires about one foot off the ground.
The driver, a 51-year-old Lake Orion woman, appeared to be highly intoxicated. Officers found her blood alcohol level to be .24 or three times the legal limit.
The woman was ticketed and lodged with a court date pending. This was her first operating while intoxicated offense.
