Girl loses control of bike, strikes truck

An 11-year-old female Oxford resident struck a truck and was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital on Thursday, August 27.
Around 4:15 p.m. the female lost control of her bike while riding on the sidewalk on the east side of M-24, south of Lincoln.
Witnesses report that the girl took the turn too fast, causing her to veer into M-24 and strike the rear quarter panel of a white longbed truck that was traveling northbound on M-24.
Village Police Sgt. Mike Solwold reported the girl is ‘going to pull through.?
‘She sustained no head injuries. She does have pelvic injuries,? he said. ‘She is conscious, aware and talking. It’s just going to take her some time to recover.?
‘I’m glad she didn’t go under that thing. She’s lucky,? Solwold noted.
Anyone with any information regarding the truck please call the Oxford Police Department at (248) 628-2525.
