Volunteers of all ages and sizes honored the memories of those who perished in the cowardly terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 by creating care packages for U.S. troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Hosted by Desert Angels, Inc., packing parties were held at Vic’s 24th Street Sports Tavern in downtown Oxford and at the Meijer store just up the road.
Between the two events, a total of 150 care packages were created along with six large boxes filled with T-shirts, socks, underwear, sweats, toys for an orphanage, 20 pillows/cases, soap, wash rags and wet wipes.
Mission accomplished.
Good job, Desert Angels! ? CJC
