Leader Editor C.J. Carnacchio traveled to Mobile, Alabama over the weekend to accept an award in the National Newspaper Association’s Best of Newspaper in Education (NIE) Contest.
The Leader was one of only three winners nationwide in the General Excellence category and received an honorable mention.
Judges had this to say about the Leader’s entry ? ‘The Oxford Leader’s NIE effort deserves recognition for its devotion to engaging readers of all ages through its intense and imaginative coverage of students, academics and school-related activities. The staff of two produces a stunning volume of school-related news and then donates as many editions as its local NIE teachers need. The upshot surely is that students, parents and teachers are as devoted to The Oxford Leader as it is to them.?
