Groveland Twp. house fire

Groveland Twp.-At about 6:30 p.m., Dec. 2, township firefighters responded to a house fire at 7515 Grange Hall Road, Holly. The century-old farmhouse, part of Oak Haven Farm owned by Nick and Pam Nichols, was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
Nick said the blaze started in the kitchen and quickly spread over the home.
‘Pam was in the kitchen making French fries for supper when the fire started,? he said. ‘I was in the barn and she came running out of the house. Within minutes, the house was burning. Groveland Township Fire Department did a great job of getting there, all the framework of our home was salvaged’they responded in just minutes.?
The Nichols purchased the farm in 1984 for the intention of raising Appaloosa horses. Since then, the business grew to include farm animals, hayrides, cider and doughnuts, all part of the autumn festivities at the farm. Nick did not say if the business would reopen later this year, but did say the home would be rebuilt.
The home was insured; however, donations for the Nichols family are being accepted at The River Church, 111 College St., Holly, Mich. 48442.
