Lions survive 30 turnovers, win 40-38

This past Friday, the Lake Orion
Baptist Lions traveled to Bethany Christian of Troy for a rematch with the Bruins. The Bruins won that match, the Lions only loss in Conference play. Lake Orion won, 40-38.?
The Lions controlled the tip-off and scored the first basket of the game.? However, they struggled in the first’period committing 10 turnovers. Lake Orion went inot the second period with an 11-10 lead.
The slow pace continued thru the half, with the Lions giving up 7 more turnovers, Lake Oroin went into the half with a 22 to 19 score.
The Lions had’five more Lion turnovers in the third, helped the Bruins build a 30-27 lead. The Lions committed 8 more in the fourth for a total of 30 for the game.? The’game was tied 35 to 35,’near the end of the 4th period when Brad Watterworth made a lay-up and was fouled.? He made the free throw, giving the Lions a 3-point lead. With only seconds remaining the Bruins hit a 3-pointer to tie the score at 38,’with 7.1 seconds left.? While the Bruins were celebrating the ball was thrown to Watterworth’who passed to Chris Hojnacki who scored the game’s final points after sprinting down court and making a lay-up with 4.1 seconds on the clock .
Sophomore center Watterworth led all’scoring with his third triple-double’of the season with 19 points, 18 rebounds, 12 blocks and two assists.

James Noruk had two points, two rebounds, two steals and three assists.? Co-Captain Senior’Matt Cameron had one point and pulled in 14 rebounds (three offensive and 11 defensive).
The Lions are 10 and 2 over all and 6 and 1 in Conference play.

Travis Woodham led the Bruins with 16 points.
The Lions play’Everest Academy of Clarkston at Home this week.
