Waldon’s eighth grade boys? basketball team finished the regular season with eight wins and two losses. In post season, the team won the Mascot tournament to become city and league champs.
For post season play, the boys beat Pontiac 35-32, Clarkston Blue 44-22 and Scripps 40-7 to win the championship.
The team is coached by Roder Hardy, who is assisted by Marc Thompson. Randy Groya and John Bernia (Waldon principal and assistant principal), along with many student fans, teachers and parents rooted the boys on to victory.
The team will be offering commerative championship t-shirts for sale Feb. 4 to 9. The t-shirts sale price will include a small donation to the Haiti relief efforts. All funds raised will be sent to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund to assist with rescue, recovery and reconstruction on behalf of those purchasing t-shirts.
