With the sounds of the Varsity Cheerleaders chanting and the music vibrating through the bleachers, Lake Orion High School’s winter pep assembly got underway.
The hour-long event on Friday, February 26 featured the finest of the high school’s attendees, varsity sports, and fear-factor inspired activities.
To kick off the festivities, members of the Varsity clubs and teams paraded around the gym, proudly sporting their banners.
Varsity Cheer, Dance, Ski, Hockey, Swimming and Diving, Girls and Boys Basketball, as well as DECA, Forensics, were all in attendance.
The Lake Orion Winter Drumline treated the student body to a performance of their 2010 competition show Images of Time. Afterwards, the one-man circus (Brad Cross) showed off his juggling ‘skills?.
Sophia Lafayette was again introduced to the students during the assembly. A member of the Student Leadership passed the ‘Olympic? torch to Lafayette, who then proceeded to run the flame around the gym.
Afterwards, a select group of brave students participated in activities that got messy, to say the least, even with the tarps protecting the floor. ‘Sippin? Soda? had students down a liter of ginger ale, and ‘Bubble or Bust? required participants to find bubble gum in a cream pie. Only with their mouths, of course.
The teachers also contributed to the festivities by performing a dance to their own mix of pop music. Luckily, no injuries to report from their cheerleader-inspired stunts.
The pep assembly wrapped up the winter spirit week, and it is back to the books for students.
