Library offers chances to read with therapy dogs

To help celebrate ‘March is Reading Month,? the Oxford Public Library (530 Pontiac Rd.) is offering free 15-minute sessions with therapy dogs.
From now until the end of the month, parents are encouraged to sign their children up to read to therapy dogs, who are gentle and trained to listen.
Children who have difficulties reading tend to develop self-esteem issues that often make them self-conscious when reading aloud in front of others, particularly classmates.
Reading out loud to an attentive and patient therapy dog helps children gain confidence, stay focused and associate reading with a pleasant experience.
Therapy dog sessions are still available on March 13, 18, 24, 25, 27 and 31.
