Performing with the best, Lake Orion Performance Ensemble, or LOPE for short, is midway through their winter season.
Their show, Terracotta, was inspired by the terra-cotta soldiers of China. Blair Kuhn stands as the guard’s director.
Recently, LOPE competed at Huron Valley’s competition, and received a score of 70.50, an increase of 9.2 points over their previous competition.
The winterguard competes in both the Michigan Colorguard Circuit (MCGC) and Winter Guard International (WGI). LOPE moved up in class from last year, now challenging other winterguards in open class.
LOPE consists of twenty-seven members, ranging in age from Freshman to Seniors.
They spin a range of objects for visual effect, including flags, sabers, and rifles.
