Dear editor,
Nobody in the world had more fun with the NCAA basketball tournament then the Ball Family of Lake Orion. Everyone in the family was an alumnus of a team in the sweet sixteen.
Doesn’t get much better than that.
Michael, a 1984 LOHS grad, and Kendy a 1985 LOHS grad, were both graduates of Michigan State University. Dad Kelly was a Purdue Grad. Last but not least, Patricia, a retired Lake Orion High School teacher graduated from Butler University.
Purdue went out early to Duke and the tension began to build when Butler and Michigan State were matched up.
Michael made some over confident wagers and will probably end up wearing a Butler sweatshirt to work for a week.
It is hard to believe but not for a couple of very close missed shots the ‘Little engine that could? almost stole the whole tournament.
Patricia, always the academician would like to remind us that only two teams in the tournament graduate 90 percent of their basketball players: Duke and Butler.
Kelly would like to remind us that in his day, Butler (50 miles south of Purdue) was known more for its intellectual and beautiful women than its basketball players.
Luckily he snagged one of the former.
