Lady Wolves prepare for busy week on the courts

The Girls Varsity Tennis team finished last week with three tied matches.
“Our singles were pretty solid and all had great wins,? said Coach Becky Freeman. ‘Our doubles faced a lot of competition. The other
teams had really good, tough double teams.?
She pointed out even it didn’t show up on the score the girls keep getting better and learn during each match.
Through the ties they learned tenacity to follow through and not give up, she said.
“They proved themselves against Troy,? Freeman noted. ‘Even with the few matches they won here and there against them. It gave them more confidence.?
The girls face another busy week taking on Rochester on Tuesday, Birmingham Groves on Wednesday and Lahser on Thursday.
“Rochester we did quite well against last year and we have a better team then we did last year,? said Freeman. ‘I am hoping we can beat them and Groves,? she added. ‘It will give us momentum going into the match against Lahser.?
A win over Lahser will give the team the boost they need in the OAA league – they are currently 2-0-2 in the league.
The goal is to score 18 points when they get to the regional match and every day they keep getting better.
“We still have some work to do,? said Freeman. ‘They are definitely doing better then they did the first week.?
The girls go to the Holly Invitational on Saturday, the tournament begins at 8 a.m.
