As of May 19, the girls? tennis team record stands at 7-2, with seven wins and two losses.
‘We are doing very well,? said Eric Bracciano, varsity girl’s tennis head coach. He heads the fifteen member team, and says that they are playing strong.
‘We have been doing great all years,? Bracciano said.
After finishing their last match, they placed second out of nineteen in their league, which is a great accomplishment, says Bracciano.
Senior Kelsey Cooper, the team’s number one singles, had ‘a couple of great wins? at leagues said Bracciano. The number three singles placed second at leagues and number four singles placed third at leagues. All of the team’s doubles placed second at leagues, except for number three, who took home first.
Bracciano also noted Nicole VanRooyen, the team’s number two singles.
Thursday May 20 the girls took part in the regional tournament, ending fifth out of nine teams.
‘That is a respectable result, considering the level of competition,? said Bracciano, adding that last year’s team finished in sixth.
Cooper, number one singles, was a semifinalist, along with Kelsey Lee, number four singles. Number one, two, and three doubles were semifinalists as well, with number four doubles ending as quarterfinalists.
Despite their performance, the girls do not advance to states.
