Rain held off long enough for volunteers to finish weeding and planting projects in Depot Park, June 12.
“It’s going well,” said Jim Brueck North Oakland Chapter president of Wild Ones, which organized River Day activities with River of Life. “We have a good crew. The garden’s in great shape.”
Boy Scouts planted native plants as part of Eagle Scout Brent Cousino’s Streambank Stabilization Project at the south end of the park, and Girl Scouts offered face painting for kids.
Participants also learned about rain gardens, and invasive species and eradication.
